Surry County

Surry County is 306-square-miles on the James River in southeastern Virginia. The county’s close proximity to major military, naval and research centers makes it an ideal location for contractor facilities. Surry County is also home to a major nuclear facility.

Recent community development has granted Surry residents access to renovated boat ramps, ferry and other recreational opportunities across the county. As much of the region is, Surry is also known for its historical background, including landmarks like Bacon’s Castle and Chippokes Plantation.
