Virginia’s Gateway Region Economic Development Organization is nonprofit, public/private partnership leading economic development efforts in the cities of Colonial Heights, Hopewell and Petersburg, and the counties of Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Prince George, Surry and Sussex. The mission of Virginia’s Gateway Region is to be a world class organization that markets the physical and human assets available within its eight member localities in order to stimulate and facilitate quality economic growth, which will result in the creation of jobs, expansion of the tax base and an enhanced quality of life throughout the southern Richmond-Petersburg metropolitan region.
The organization facilitates new business opportunities, works with existing businesses, advances resources that will enhance the economic viability of the region and fosters regional cooperation among the public and private entities that are involved in economic development activities.
Since 1990, more than 180 project announcements have been made for the Region – welcoming over 90 new corporate citizens – creating over $2.4 billion in capital investment and over 15,000 jobs.
