Growing Faster Than Ever - Investment, Jobs, and Growth in the Gateway Region

In 2005, personal income in Virginia grew at a faster rate than all but five other states, and the Gateway Region is living testament to the rapid expansion of commerce in the Richmond metropolitan area.

For the past 15 years, the Gateway Region has been one of the fastest-growing regions in Virginia—one of the best and most progressive business climates in the United States—and that growth can only be good for retail companies.

Between 2003 and 2005, the region welcomed the relocation or expansion of 52 companies, creation of more than 4,000 direct jobs and $690 million of capital investment, with the biggest single influx of jobs in the Region’s history still to come.

With the latest round of Army restructuring, more than 20,000 Army personnel will be relocating to Fort Lee, just outside of Petersburg. Not only will they bring jobs, income, and a rise in homeowner values to the region, but their families will also provide retailers and small businesses in the area with an ideal workforce.

Even so, these expansions are merely continuing a simple trend: executives are finding the Gateway Region to be a highly profitable and cost-effective area to do business from. Operating a location here can help your company; this section will show you why.
