Founded in 1882, Virginia State University is a public, historically black, land-grant university, offering academic programs to prepare students to be 21st-century innovators and future leaders with the knowledge and insight necessary to change our world. The VSU campus features a 231-acre main campus plus Randolph Farm, a renowned 412-acre agricultural research facility. VSU is located about 20 minutes south of Richmond, VA in VSU sits atop a rolling landscape overlooking the Appomattox River with expansive views of Petersburg. With a current student population of approximately 4,300. Our campus boasts 11 residence halls, 18 academic buildings, and a state-of-the-art multi-purpose center. Virginia State University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees.
