VGR Honored by The Cameron Foundation for Organizational Management Excellence

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA – On Oct. 22, 2015, Virginia’s Gateway Region Economic Development Organization (VGR) received the Handy L. Lindsey, Jr. Award for Excellence in Organizational Management from The Cameron Foundation.

The award recognizes nonprofit organizations that demonstrate excellence in overall organizational management as part of the Partnership for Nonprofit Excellence‘s Standards for Excellence program, which aims to assist organization’s in achieving the highest standards of practice.

“We are extremely grateful to The Cameron Foundation for all of its support throughout the years and for this honor. Virginia’s Gateway Region is committed to continuing our reputation of excellence in organizational management, which is essential in fulfilling our mission of influencing a positive impact in our communities,” said VGR President & CEO Renee Chapline.

Presented at The Cameron Foundation’s 11th Anniversary Celebration, the Crater Community Hospice, National Alliance on Mental Illness Central Virginia and National Alliance on Mental Illness Virginia also received awards for their participation in the process.

“The Lindsey Award is designed to recognize local organizations that are striving towards national best practices in nonprofit management and governance. Virginia’s Gateway Region is among a select cohort of just four recipients for this year. By example, these groups help to raise the bar for other nonprofits serving this region,” said J. Todd Graham, president of The Cameron Foundation.

As the regional economic development organization, Virginia's Gateway Region exists to enhance the economic development opportunities for the cities of Colonial Heights, Hopewell and Petersburg, and the counties of Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Prince George, Surry and Sussex. VGR is a private, nonprofit organization that is publicly and privately funded to facilitate new business opportunities, work with existing businesses, advance resources that will enhance the economic viability of the region and foster regional cooperation among the public and private entities that are involved in economic development activities.
